Health law, medical malpractice and general insurance defense, and administrative law
Kari is a director at the firm. Prior to joining the firm, she practiced with another Phoenix firm for fourteen years, seven of which she served as a shareholder, director and officer. Kari emphasizes medical malpractice defense and health law in her practice. She has substantial trial experience and has represented clients before Arizona licensing boards and the Department of Health Services, U.S. Food & Drug Administration and OHRP. Kari represents health plans and insurers in a variety of matters, including bad faith litigation and regulatory matters. She has represented organizations and providers in credentialing matters and has acted as a hearing officer for fair hearings. Kari frequently represents physician practices in business matters. She represents physician and hospital systems throughout the country in medical research matters and has extensive experience in advising medical research programs. She presently chairs the Institutional Review Board at Phoenix Children’s Hospital which oversees clinical research trials. She is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association, Health Law Section of the American Bar Association, Arizona Association of Health Care Lawyers, and the Sandra Day O’Connor American Inns of Court. She is a frequent lecturer on health law subjects.
In 2005, Kari was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Arizona College of Trial Advocacy of the State Bar of Arizona. She is presently serving as Chair of the Committee of Examinations of the Supreme Court of Arizona which oversees the Arizona Bar Exam. She was awarded the Sandra Day O’Connor Award by the Junior League of Phoenix, Inc. for her community service work and continues to serve on the boards of several large non-profit organizations. Kari was recognized by the Business Journal as one of the forty outstanding young business leaders in Phoenix
