Kari B. Zangerle

Practice Areas: Health law, litigation of medical and general negligence matters, commercial and employment law, and administrative law.

Experience: Ms. Zangerle is a Senior Director at the firm with twenty-nine years of litigation and health law experience. Ms. Zangerle has substantial trial experience in representing health care institutions of all sizes and practitioners in medical and general negligence, commercial and employment matters. She works as local operations counsel for a number of facilities without in-house counsel and with national counsel for a variety of health systems. Ms. Zangerle has experience in coordinating crisis response teams and working with local, state and federal authorities. She has represented clients before CMS, OIG, OHRP, FDA, Arizona Department of Health Services, and numerous other administrative agencies. Ms. Zangerle has experience in credentialing matters and has represented hospitals and practitioners in fair hearings and acted as a hearing officer. She represents physicians and entities in medical research matters and served as a chair for IRBs for over twenty years. She most recently acted as Chair and Co-Chair of the Institutional Review Board for Phoenix Children's Hospital for fifteen years which oversees clinical trials, and now serves as an alternative member. Ms. Zangerle also has experience in representing facilities in managed care disputes, and health plans in bad faith litigation. She is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association, Health Law Section of the American Bar Association, Arizona Association of Health Care Lawyers, and a past member of the Sandra Day O'Connor American Inns of Court. She is a frequent lecturer on health law subjects.

Other: Ms. Zangerle has served as the Chair of the Committee of Examinations for the Supreme Court of Arizona, a member of the Civil Jury Instruction and Civil Rules Committees for the State Bar of Arizona, and Board of Directors for the Arizona College of Trial Advocacy. Ms. Zangerle is an active community volunteer and was awarded the Sandra Day O'Connor Award by the Junior League of Phoenix, Inc. for outstanding service. She currently serves as Vice President and member of the Executive Board for the Grand Canyon Council for Boy Scouts of America, an Assistant Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 401, is a Vigil Honor member of the Order of the Arrow, Wipala Wiki Lodge, and is a recipient of the Silver Beaver Award for her service to Scouting. Ms. Zangerle also serves as a leader for Girl Scout Troop 999. She is a member of the Junior League of Phoenix and member of the National Charity League.
