Experience: Steve is a founding director of the Firm and has practiced trial defense
is Arizona for over 27 years. He has significant first chair jury trial
experience including catastrophic injury and death in trials alleging
medical negligence and products liability. He defends physicians, hospitals
and nurses; airlines, pilots and aviation manufacturers; and construction
subcontractors in litigation in Arizona. He has also tried many administrative
cases including OIG enforcement actions against physicians and credentialing
disputes for hospitals.
Education: University of Arizona, College of Law, 1986, J.D., with Highest Distinction;
Elected Order of the Coif; Editor, Arizona Law Review. Arizona State University,
1983, B.S. Business Administration, Magna Cum Laude.
Other: Steve is an AV rated attorney by Martindale-Hubbell, the leading independent
attorney rating entity, where AV is the highest rating available, recognizing
preeminent levels of professional skills and integrity. He also has been
recognized each year since 2007 for his trial advocacy by Southwest Super
Lawyers as a "Super Lawyer" in medical malpractice defense.
In addition to his trial work, Steve has an appellate practice, where
he has briefed, argued and won significant appeals in the Arizona Supreme
Court and the Arizona Court of Appeals. Steve was raised in Fremont, Nebraska.
He was honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corp in 1980,
where he worked in top secret special intelligence and was deployed overseas.
He is a lifelong Nebraska football fan and enjoys spending time with his
wife and five children.
